Every stay gives back.

The Wagwoods is our attempt to create a life that brings together our love of nature, the companionship of dogs, and the simple beauty of slow living. Our 140-acre property has become home to the dogs we've rescued and fostered along the way, and we're committed to giving them the best life possible while helping other animals get a second chance.

Every stay helps us share that vision. A portion of your stay supports local animal rescue efforts, helping provide food, medical care, fostering, and new beginnings for animals in need. Bring your hiking shoes or mountain bike. Explore 140 private acres, with another 580 acres of conserved public land and trails next door.

Find the water

Hike about two miles to Norris Lake or drive to one of two nearby marinas. Bring a kayak or canoe and spend the day on the water.

Chase the view

Head to the Hilltop Overlook for morning yoga above the valley, then return after dark for stargazing beneath remarkably clear skies.

The welcome committee has four paws.

Five permanent rescue dogs roam the property, joined from time to time by neighborhood pups and foster dogs waiting for forever homes. They love attention, treats, and showing guests the trails.

Quiet rural charm and a close-knit community, with local markets and diners nearby. Groceries are within a 30-minute drive, and Knoxville is only about an hour away.

Norris Lake

Hike or bike about two miles to the lake, or take a short drive to Blue Springs Boat Dock or Flat Hollow Marina.

Cumberland Gap National Park

Just 30 minutes away, with trails to Tri-State Peak, history, and panoramic views.

Tackett Creek ATV Trails

Scenic off-road adventures close by.

Lincoln Memorial University

A few honest details.

  • The bedroom is in a loft with stairs — guests with mobility concerns may prefer the sofa bed downstairs.
  • Limited cell service in the area, but Wi-Fi is available in the cabin.
  • We share our home with five friendly rescue dogs (plus the occasional neighbor pup). They roam freely but aren't allowed inside the cabin — no matter how persuasive they are.
  • For safety, exterior security cameras monitor the main gate and pond; wildlife cameras may also be on trails.
  • No smoking or vaping anywhere on the property. A fee will be charged for odors.
  • This is a rural area without public transportation or rideshare services. Please plan accordingly.
